~On a quest for knowledge as a lifelong learner.~
John Naisbitt, an American futurist novelist, once said, "We are drowning in information but starved for knowledge."
While I didn't know this quote before completing this painting, I feel that it perfectly encapsulates its meaning. I created this painting after finishing my senior exhibition, an exhibition about craving and desiring information and stimulation. To expound upon that idea, I wanted to make a piece inspired by that desire for knowledge on a physical, metaphysical, and spiritual level. While using a method of creation that took years of applied knowledge in other areas, and the wisdom I gained from those experiences, to put brush on canvas and life to conceptual feeling.
I incorporate research and symbology to bring a personified version of the desire for wisdom and knowledge. That desire sometimes creates that starvation for knowledge, that intense sensation brought forth by the unashamed and studying stare of the figure, who seeks things beyond what is in the environment with him, looking beyond the 4th wall and observing and taking in the knowledge of the greater environment and world that his reality and truth exist within.
